Guilin, which has a long history as the most beautiful place in China, is famous for its wonderful scenery, rivers and karst peaks covered in lush greenery. The city was founded suring the Qin dynasty and developed as a transport center. Under the Ming, it was a provincial capital and remained so until 1914. Yangshuo is 83-kilometers along the Lijiang River, settled amongst the most beautiful part of the Lijiang River's karst scenery. This area of gorgeous limestone mountains and natural beauty is a relaxing place and has become popular with international travelers. |

| The West Street |
West Street is one of the most beautiful towns along the Li River, and this well preserved town is steeped in history. West Street has been open as a tourist site since 1978, an has earned the name of China's "earth village". The town is now filled with various stores, bars, hotels and cafes. Because of the amount of foreigners, most in the town speak simple English, and the street is thought to be one of the largest areas of foreign language in China.
There are numerous cafes and bars to sit and relax during the day, with famous places such as Paris Cafe, MC Blues Bar, and Green Lotus, and most of these cafes have outdoor seating. The MC Blues Bar has over 150 tapes of music for visitors to choose from. |

| Yangshuo County |
Yangshuo is part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, covering over 1,428 square kilometers in the northeastern part of the region. Due to the subtropical climate, with rainfall and heat all year round, the summers are not too hot, and it is not too cold in the winter.
The culture of the people of Yangshuo is rich ad varied, with performances such as the lion and dragon dances, and a long drum dance. There are also many sites of historical interest in the county, including stone carvings, bridges and gardens which are thought to rival that of Guilin city. Many of these buildings and monuments of cultural heritage are located near to the Li River which winds through Yangshuo, adding to the images of natural beauty of the scenery. |

| The Reed Flute Cave |
| The Reed Flute Cave is one of the largest and magnificent caves in Guilin, hidden completely on the side of Guangming Hill, 3.2 miles away from the city. This region has been the home of the reeds that have been used to make flutes and pipes since ancient times. The cave is a drip-stone structure which has been carved 790 feet deep, and the cave stretches on for almost 550 yards through the zigzag of various multicolored stalactites and stalagmites which lends the name of the Palace of Natural Art. Though naturally beautiful, the cave has been emphasized by man-made strategies such as lighting to improve the contrast of rock formations which resemble birds, animals or plants. There are other wonders in the Reed Flute Cave, including the Crystal Palace of the Dragon King, which is an area which resembles the city in miniature. There are also over 70 stone inscriptions from the Tang Period between 618 and 907. |

| The Elephant Trunk Hill |

Seeped in a history of over 3.6 hundred million years, the Elephant Trunk Hill is often regarded as a symbol of the Guilin landscape. It lies to the southeast of Guilin city, on the west bank of the Li River. The hill has had its name for hundreds of years, because of its appearance, of an elephant sucking water from the river with its trunk. On top of the hill there is a pagoda which has been named Puxian Pagoda.There is a cave at the side of the hill, between the trunk and the legs of the elephant, lies the "Moon-Over-Water Cave" in the shape of a full moon. This cave and the surrounding hills have been praised for its beauty and enchantment, especially at night. There are over 70 inscriptions carved in the cave from the Tang and Song dynasties. Another of the caves on the Elephant Trunk Hill serves as the eyes of the animal, where visitors of the hill can look out onto the city of Guilin. |

| The Li River |

The Li River, or Lijiang River, runs through the city of Guilin in the Autonomous Region of Guangxi Zhuang. It is famous for its beauty, with the lush green mountains, fantastically shaped rocks, fragrant waters and lakes and mysterious and enchanting grottoes. The Lijiang River has been praised for centuries for its beauty in Chinese culture, including a poem by Hanyu. One of the best ways to view the wonders of the river is by boat, navigating amongst towering peaks, waterfalls and rocks. Traveling along the river, a tourist can view many deep pool or dangerous shoals. The area surrounding the Lijiang River holds as many wonders as the banks of the river themselves. The area is famed for the spectacular mountains, with Luohan, Chaoban, Wuzhi and Luosi Mountains rising from the waters. There are also cliffs visible from the river, such as the Picture Cliff, a natural formation that gives the impression of a picture when the light falls on it, consisting of 9 houses |

| Ronghu Lake |

One of the beautiful attractions of Guilin city includes the Ronghu Lake, situated in the center square of the city near to Lijiang Road. There is also the rich Zhongshan Road, a walking area through the central area.
The main tourist attractions around the central district include two lakes, the Ronghu (otherwise known as the Banyan Lake), as well as the Fir Tree Lake, (or Shanhu Lake). These two lakes are connected by a bridge, and are part of a beautiful park in the center of the city. |

| Seven Star Park |
The Seven Star Park is one of the largest natural environment parks in Guilin. It is located on the eastern banks of the Li River, and consists of 134 hectares, encompassing such sites as the Camel Hill, the Seven Star Cave and the Follower Bridge.
The main gateway of the park was built in the Song Dynasty. The Flowers Bridge was then renovated in the Ming Dynasty. The bridge gained it name because it was originally thought to have been surrounded by wild flowers that flamed in the spring. However, these flowers were reduced in the Qing Dynasty, and the flaming flowers cannot be found anymore.
The Camel Hill is an amazing sight, named because it resembles the shape of the animal. The hill has been noted for its life-like structure, and is thought to have been elaborately forged by human hands, but it is a natural formation.

| Folded Brocade Hill |
The Folded Brocade Hill is comprised of several different hills and peaks situated in the northern part of Guilin city. Folded Brocade Hill comprises Yueshan Hill, Crane Peak, Look-On-All-Direction Hill, and Bright Moon Peak. The hill is named for the odd looking rocks that are broken horizontally.
A calabash shaped Wind Cave runs through the halfway point of the hill. The two mouths of the cave are wider than the middle passage, which is only wide enough for one person to walk through. Inside, there are 90 sculptures of the Buddha from the Tang and Song Dynasties. It takes its name of the Wind Cave from the breeze that runs through it all year around.
The journey up to the Bright Moon Peak is often arduous and exhausting, but there are two Pavilions which provide ideal rest stops of the incline, the Face-the-Cloud Pavilion, and the Over-the-River Pavilion. On the top of the Bright Moon Peak rests the Catch-the-Cloud Pavilion, where visitors are rewarded from their climb with the finest views of Guilin.
